take me home!

Executive Committee 2009-2010

President
Rustam Affandi b. Zaihan
HP: 019-318 1264
E-Mail: razaihan@gmail.com

Rustam started running in 1986 and had participated in almost all road races Malaysia has to offer. Finding that running to be the best antidote for his asthmatic condition, he joined the Club in September 2003 and since then he took running more seriously and has to-date completed seven marathons i.e. 4 in Kuala Lumpur and 3 in Singapore.

He is married with three children and they are all into running. He is a Remisier by profession attached to a stock-broking company in Subang Jaya where he also lives.

Vice President I
Foo Sook Ying
HP: 012-2718-173
E-mail: sookying108@gmail.com

Sook Ying took up running in 2001 and got hooked on it and had never looked back since. Running has changed her life and helped develop her interest in other sporting activities. Swimming is her other passion.

Being an Exco member is like a second job for Sook Ying now. In 2005, she was Assistant Treasurer and for the next 2 years she was the Treasurer. At the last AGM, she was nominated a Vice President. She enjoys working for the Club even though there are "ups" and "downs" and it takes up a lot of her personal time. Like the rest of the Exco, she strives to upkeep the name of the Club and does her very best to run the Club on a voluntary basis.

Vice President II
Mohd Suhaimi

Used to be actively involved in football and squash but the continuous difficulties in getting enough quorum of players and booking for a court had prompted my inner self to look for an alternative. Timely, a friend, whom I know to be running actively, encouraged me to join him for the Siemens Run. We registered for the 7 km category and a new chapter begun from thereon where my inner self embraced this activity as a passion.

Now in its fifth year, running is becoming addictive. It is part and parcel of my life towards healthy living. It also acts as an anti-depressant, a stress reliever, anti-aging and the likes that emanates positive vibes. Running is a self-service activity. It is I who decide to run or not or to do a double hill or hartamas or to run in the morning or evening. Running evolves around my own self. It is my race against I.

Hon. Secretary
Jenny Lim

I have been a member of PACM since1985. Since then, I have run full marathons, half marathons and quarter marathons. I have completed 44 full marathons and more than 60 half marathons. My personal best for the full marathon is 3:22:19 and 1:29:09 for the half marathon which I did in KL Marathon and Kedah Marathon respectively. I stopped running after I met with an accident on April 21, 2005. I am married to Lee Woon Khow and have two children, Siew Ying, 15 and Wen Jun, 12. This is my second time to be elected as Secretary. My first time was under the late Col Mustapha and I will give my total support to the club as a new EXCO member.

Asst Secretary
Tan Choon Kok

I am married with 2 daughters and a Chemical Engineer by profession. I retired from SIRIM (Standards and Industrial Research Institute of Malaysia) in 2008, after about 30 years with them. I am currently a part-time freelance Management Systems Consultant and Auditor.

I started running in 2002 after reading a feature article on PJ Half Marathon of an elderly runner. I started with 5 km, then 10 km, 15 km, and 21.1 km in 2005. I nearly gave up running for good after running the Half Marathon at the KL Marathon in 2005 because of a second “black toe” and “big” blisters. However, a few months after quitting and by accident, I ran about 2 km on strapped sandals to buy petrol due to the old “trusted” car running out of petrol. I then increased my running distances up to the marathon on sandals.

I have run about 20 full marathons since 2006. My principle is to avoid injury in any run and to treat running as an “investment” for maintaining good health especially with regard to the bones, muscles and heart.

I joined the Club in January 2004 and currently, I am also the Putrajaya Area Group leader.

Treasurer
Jenny Lee
HP:  012-3060-578
E-mail: jennylsp@gmail.com

Jenny Lee always believes that outdoors sporting activities inculcate a person's inner drive, determination and perseverance. With this mindset, she set her goals and scaled all the 12 highest mountains in Malaysia, the Annapurna and Kalapata mountains in Nepal. After doing the hard bits, she turned to road running and had completed 5 full marathons to date.

She served as the Club's Assistant Secretary from 2003 to 2005. An accountant by profession, she was voted in as the Club's Treasurer with effect from March 2009.

Assistant Treasurer
Tan Pek Moi
HP: 012-234 2575
E-mail: tanpm@tahaninsurance.com

A pioneer member of PACM, Pek Moi joined the Club in 1987. She held the post of Committee Member from 1990 to 1992, and again in 2006.

Her interest in running started in 1985 and she has participated in many races of varying distances in Malaysia - from 7km to full marathons. Besides running, she enjoys playing basketball and trekking. Some of the mountains climbed by her are Gunung Tahan in Malaysia and Annapurna mountain in Nepal.

Running helps her clear her mind in tackling difficult situations in her work as an Assistant Vice President with a local general insurance company. Happily for her, running has also helped her maintain her weight to a desirable level.

Committee Member II
Phillis Loke

It is my great pleasure to serve as a committe member in PACM. At present I am working from home. Some weekends, I attend Transformation Cources and on others, bring my grandson to meet his parents in Singapore.

My friend from Singapore, Rosemary Ow (I found her passport which she lost during the 30KM Run in 2007) said of me: "You are so good to contribute to others!"

I sincerely wish that I would be helpful to the EXCO and PACM.

Committee Member III
Sherman Chu

I am a semi retired, registered Pharmacist and also a certified numerologist with a penchant for the mystic/pseudo sciences. On my free time, I trade forex and do voluntary work in a temple and society in general.

I have participated in most runs since 2001. In 2005, I completed my first marathon and a 24-hour walk. I have stopped running for the moment and will be training for the next marathon soon.

Committee Member IV
Hoo Ching Tai

"The running I can do, even if I have to crawl every last mile" --- Terry Fox

Yes, like Terry Fox, running marathons is my hobby (No Marathon No Life). Between December 2002 and May 2010, I completed 29 marathons and 5 ultra marathons. I ran my ultra marathon in South Africa (Comrades Ultra Marathon), Singapore, Thailand and Kedah.

I became an active runner after joining Pacesetters Athletics Club in 2005. Through Pacesetters, I got to know many runners and developed my running interest.

Michael joined the Club in 2004. When he sent his daughter to the Pacesetters track training at Kampong Pandan on Saturday mornings, he decided to join in rather than just wait idly. In time, he "caught the bug."

He works in his family plantation business. His main interest is track sprinting, in the 100 to 400 metres events and has sworn never to do runs longer than 15km. He is also the Track Coordinator for the Club.
