CLUB PROFILE
The Pacesetters Athletic Club Malaysia was formed in 1984 to promote running as a healthy recreational activity. The club has more than 1,000 members and is well known as a running club within and outside the Klang Valley.

The establishment of the club immediately after the 1st Kuala Lumpur International Marathon in 1984 was the result of the effort by a group of friends, wanting to share the know how in training and competing in long distance running. The founders of the Club were among others, Ms. Marina Chin, former national sprint queen; Dr Ronnie Yeo, Mr. Raymond Teo, Mr. Alex Moh, Ms. Jessie Chew and Ms. Joyce Leong. Our patron was YBHG Datuk Shahrir Abdul Samad, the first cabinet minister who ran the marathon.

The highlights of the Club's calendar include the participation of its members in road races organized at local, state, national and international levels. The popular events strongly suppotred by our members are the PJ Half Marathon, Penang Bridge Run, Seremban Half Marathon and KL International Marathon. It is the norm to find that our club sends one of the biggest contingents in many local races.

Members also support various international races such as the Singapore Marathon, Hatyai Nature Runs and Songkhla Half Marathon.

Besides races, we organize regular Breakfast Runs at various scenic spots around the Klang Valley to encourage interaction of our members along with their family members. Our regular meeting place is at the Bukit Aman car park at Tasik Perdana. Every Sunday morning, members would gather there in groups for their workout. In addition, we have groups in Gasing Hill, Taman Tasik Permaisuri (Cheras), Subang Jaya, FRIM, Banting, Klang, Penang, Sabak Bernam and Kuantan. The club's activities are not only limited to running. Members often participate in duathlons, triathlons, competitive walking, jungle trekking, camping and mountain climbing.

The club circulates a bi-monthly newsletter called Footloose (read excerpts from previous issues here), to its members, and also the monthly E-Bulletin. We also conduct clinics on running and sports related issues by professionals. Pacesetters Athletic Club is a registered society with the Registrar of Societies.

The Executive Committee is elected annually at the AGM, usually held in the month of March/April.
